How to Repair Tears and Grooves in an Oil Painting

Ever have a small hole in an oil painting?   Easily repaired if you don't use too strong a glue.   In the small painting of Seifert's Farm Supply sanding had created a tiny hole.  I simply cut a patch from a canvas used to experiment and glued to the reverse with school glue.   I then patched the front with Liquin Impasto.

Ever have a serious groove in a canvas where the stretcher bar has creased the canvas?   Impossible to fix using water on the reverse to shrink the canvas unless the mark is slight.  The only way to repair grooves like this is with Liquin Impasto spread on with a knife and then smoothed out and the edges feathered.   A light sanding can help but after a couple coats of paint you may
have some uneven surfaces but definitely the groove running along the stretcher bar will be gone.
